My Own Bold Prediction of Things that Will Come in the Future

My Own Bold Prediction

of Things That Will Come in the Future

By Apolinario Villalobos

  • Cars shall be operated by powerful and intelligent chips that contain maps of all countries all over the world. These chips can also be fed with directional information so that by just touching addresses, they could glide on their own towards them.
  • Gliding vehicles shall be equipped with a feature that could automatically avoid obstacles.
  • The vehicle of the future shall, practically, be an intelligent robot that could also detect the “malfunction” of the body of passengers, such as, onset of high blood pressure, heart failure, etc.
  • The vehicle of the future shall have a body with multi-layered “scale-like” cover to allow it to extend or expand as necessary, and could travel on land, water and air.
  • Changing of body organs with synthetic ones made of a super lightweight metal that would not rust and would be much lighter and stronger than titanium would become an ordinary clinical procedure. Today, it is being done, but more are coming.
  • Ulcer shall be a disease of the past as affluent patients shall have an option to replace their intestines with some kind of absorbent foam-like material equipped with processors of synthetic, though, highly energetic foods contained in capsules which shall become a fad among the rich.
  • Intelligent robotic homes of the future shall be equipped with gadgets that could “repel” human intruders with bad intention, as well as, accidental fire. Gates shall have chips that could store information on faces of frequent or unwanted visitors.
  • In the future, different colors of the body aura could be interpreted by a super scanner. Colors of diseases could also be identified, same as with the colors of various characters. In this regard, people with criminal intention could already be intercepted at the gates of subdivisions or entrances of malls and condominium buildings, as they shall be provided with these scanners as a requirement.
  • A gadget that could be strapped around the head to read the mind of the wearer shall be developed. It could be programmed to have compatibility with TV, radio, and phones, and could be connected to an “amplifier” to allow the invalid and bed-bound persons to communicate with people around them.
  • Televised religious service shall prevail over the “personally” conducted at the traditional venues such as churches and mosques or masjids.
  • Priesthood shall evolve further to have a more professional character, with priests allowed to marry, and nuns allowed to say Mass, but shall definitely not be allowed to marry. Priests and nuns shall be required to have IDs and their profession regulated by a “federation of religious groups” in coordination with the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC). Today, the Roman Catholic church observes a “rotation” of 6-yearterm for each parish priest, and “some kind” of a “rest day” but spent in “some kind” of “weekly meeting” of parish priests at the Diocesan centers, but which unfortunately, I viewed by the uninformed as “day off”.
  • Mind scanning equipment will be invented complete with a feature that could print texts and images straight from the mind.
  • Grasses, leaves and twigs shall become processed food “extenders” and flavorings.
  • More fake foods shall be invented in China, aside from rice and eggs.
  • The sun, wind, and ocean current shall become popular as alternative sources of energy and shall cause many of the gas stations to close. Even the motion of the body shall become a source of energy for small gadgets such as cellphone, radio, hearing aid, etc.
  • Developers of condominium buildings shall be required by the local governments to utilize their rooftops as prep-school facilities before the building permit could be issued to them.

Viewers may call me crazy but the inventors of cars and the Wright brothers who invented the airplane were called such during their time.

My dear, little ones…

My dear, little ones…

by Apolinario Villalobos

It pains me to see how the world

Crumbles under the weight of greed

How life buckles with the pain of despair

I am so sad that what will be left for all of you

Will be a world shrouded with the bleak sorrow.

Gone will all the birds be, that fly

Grass and flowers in the meadows

Fish in the oceans, rivers, and creeks

The butterflies and bees that seek nectar

And, so will the wind…stilled by the dire war.

All those are due to man’s greed

So ravenous are his appalling desires

But let’s not lose hope…pray, pray, pray

As the kindly Lord, to us, may again take pity

That tomorrow’s world, be blessed with His mercy!

Ripples in the Stream

Ripples in the Stream

By Apolinario B Villalobos

I have always been fascinated

by the stream –

mesmerized by the murmur

that the flowing water makes

as a pebble is thrown into it,

and as the current hits a rock

as if protesting the presence

that hinders

its smooth journey

along the crevice of the earth.

The gentle touch of a dragonfly,

the sudden appearance of a fish’s snout,

the splash of swimming children,

the soft touch of a falling leaf,

the sudden gust of wind,

the trickles of incessant rain –

cause the ripples that rupture

the earth’s gently flowing stream.

Now that I am old,

I realized

that God has reasons

for everything,

so He gave us intelligence

to understand them all

without any misgiving.

Indeed, just like a stream

that gets dented with ripples,

challenges and trials

make us cry in anguish;

and like a stream

that just keeps on flowing

there is nothing we can do

but go on living…

If the stream can keep on flowing,

so should we  –

let our lives flow

along the crevice of destiny.

Just like a stream

that joins the rest down its path

giving life along its way

towards the sea,

so must we …

help others with sincerity

as we meld with them

towards our destiny.

Do Not Feel Bad about Unfulfilled Dreams

Do Not Feel Bad
About Unfulfilled Dreams
By Apolinario Villalobos

There is a popular adage, “life is what we make it”. All of us have limitations, hence, it follows that the life we have today is based on those limitations. We cannot be like what others are. We can strive, yes…but the result may not be the same as what others have accomplished. The problem with some of us is that they dream to be like somebody else which is impossible. Successful people can be looked up to as models or be admired, but cannot be exactly copied, so that the same admiration that they enjoy can be also reaped.

Success is relative. The degree and kind of success varies. In this regard, to avoid getting disappointed, one should be contented with what he has accomplished based on his capability. He should not feel bad, for instance, because he did not become a manager like his friend, or a physician like another friend, or a mayor, etc. Those who develop grudge because of their “failure” supposedly, equate success to fame which is wrong. Others feel that just because they did not become famous like others, they have become a failure. I can say that such kind of feeling is jealousy which breeds grudge….nothing else.

We should not be occupied with gawking at what others are doing or being jealous with what they have accomplished. Each one of us has a different kind of life to live and concerns much different from the rest. On the other hand, the jealous attitude is most often the result of unnecessary and unhealthy rivalry in offices and other work sites. This is called professional jealousy which affects the operation and atmosphere.

On the other hand, successful people may wonder why some friends suddenly kept a distance from them for no reason at all. Now, there is something for these shunned successful people to ponder about…jealousy developed by these people who think that their dreams are not fulfilled. Such unnecessary feeling made them jealous resulting to grudge that time may not expunge easily. My suggestion: a change in attitude…by being positive in living one’s life.

Failed Expectation Breeds Disappointment and Discouragement…but we should move on

Failed Expectation Breeds
Disappointment and Discouragement
…but we should move on
By Apolinario Villalobos

Honestly now, disappointment and discouragement can really result from failed expectations. However, this should not hold us from moving on. The failure should instead give us more impetus to go ahead, no matter what. It should serve as an inspiration and a lesson on which our next moves should be founded.

Many stories are told about great artists who suffered not only one or two but series of failures before finally, achieving fame. Inventors were even ridiculed when they presented their ideas. The same is true with many businessmen who suffered bankruptcies before finally achieving the recognition as business tycoons. These people showed that success in life is sweetest if achieved the hard way.

The most popular encouragement that we hear is, “….no pain, no glory”. Achievers who made use of such guidance should be thankful to whoever first said that. If we set our eyes towards a certain goal, we should expect trials along the way….and with those, we should also expect failures.

Now, if we do not want to get disappointed in life, we should restrain ourselves from having an ambition. We should be contented with we have at the moment. We should be prepared for a stagnant life, as well as, heartaches if we find ourselves left behind by others who struggle by all means to move up or ahead. On the other hand we deserve the heartaches because in the first place, it was our choice not to experience failures. Lastly, as a reminder, the fact is that, regrets always come at the end.

Kinabuhi/ Life

(Hiligaynon and English and versions)

Ni Apolinario Villalobos

Ang kinabuhi, daw sapa, nagailig

Kon padulhog gani, ini madasig

Ang katinong, ginabuka sang bato

Kag labusaw sang mga isda kag tawo.

Amo man ina ang tawo sa kalibutan

Nagalakat sa dalan nga indi matapan

Damo matapakan, mga buho kag tunok

May mga hilit-hilit pa nga makahaladlok!

Life is like a stream that flows –

Fast, if the terrain tilts or slopes

Boulders break its tranquil course

But not easing a bit its resolute force.

Man, a mere dot in the universe

Treads potholed paths – all diverse

Some are thorny, some yet, are stony

With dark corners, foreboding and dreary!

Do Not Worry About a Stained Past…the future is still stainless

Do not worry about a stained past

…the future is still stainless

By Apolinario Villalobos

Many people find it hard to move on, as they are held back by a not so encouraging past. For this, my counsel is: the past is just a third part of our life, and there are still two parts that we have to live – the present and the future. The reason why God gave us the three phases of life, is perhaps to give us the opportunity to recover whatever has been lost in the past, and strive for what lies ahead. Our present is the phase where we can make amends for a better future. We should seize that opportunity and utilize it to the fullest.

If we have to be positive about whatever happened in our past, all we do is just declare that, good or bad, it is still part of life. Others use past failures as inspirations, and some even just make a joke out of them, which psychologically, is the best attitude, because the fear of their being discovered is eliminated from their mind. What is important is the sincere desire to amend the past mistakes.

I have shared the story of the girl who became a prostitute in Avenida in order to help her family and continue her secondary studies. She was eventually adopted by a retired couple, my friends, who are now spending for her education. When I met her last month, she was transformed greatly, that I almost failed to recognize her. She told me that her classmates and teachers knew about her past, and because of such openness, she gained much respect. She is now among the campus leaders and is maintaining her fourth berth in the top ten academic ranking of her class. She is also a member of their school choir and gymnastics team.

The desire to change should emanate from the person’s consciousness. No amount of financial or psychiatric help can make transformations in a person who refuses to change. On the other hand, we must look back for inspirations and guidance on what to change. At the present time, we should do more for the better or make amends to past mistakes, if there are…so that tomorrow, we can wake up to a new day that throbs with a better life.

Kaylan Kaya?

Kaylan Kaya?

ni Apolinario Villalobos

Nitong huling mga araw

Malimit ang patayan

Gutom at sakit

Babala sa sangkatauhan

Sa munting bagay

Mga tao’y nag-aalitan

Baril at punyal

Panlunas sa sama ng loob

Ref:

Kaylan kaya

Magkakaroon ng katahimikan

Ang sandaigdigan?

Kung lumipas na

Ang panahon ng tao? (repeat)

Lupang nabubungkal

Kalimitan ay tigang

Bagyo at baha

Mga sanhi ng kahayukan

Pera’y dini-Diyos

Ng mga gahaman

Pati kapwa-tao

Ay handa nilang yapakan.

(Repeat Refrain twice and fade)
