Simpleng Tanong na Ikinahihiyang Itanong ng Iba: May Loud Speaker o Sound System na Kaya Noong Panahon ni Moses

Simpleng Tanong na Ikinahiyang Itanong ng Iba:

May Loud Speaker o Sound System

Noticeably, after the 15th anniversary, there are five years gap between the anniversaries, thereafter, until the 55th which has a gap of 20 years before the final which is the 75th. Personally, my view is perhaps, to give time for the husband to save enough money for a more elaborate celebration. As for the long gap between the 55th and 75th, perhaps, it is some sort of a standby period to check the couple’s endurance to live in this chaotic world.

A word of caution, though, for the husband: do not give as gift to the wife, a roll of toilet paper on the first year anniversary, cotton balls on the second year, and a leather dog collar or a leather chastity belt on the third year.

This observance is rooted on the ancient practice of the pagans and handed down the subsequent cultures. Admirably, today we sometimes come across stories of couples with both the husband and wife in their respective wheelchair happily holding hands and being pushed solemnly down the aisle toward the altar for their renewal of vows, on the occasion of their 75th wedding anniversary…in a Catholic church. I am just glad that “My Way” is not sung during this ceremony.

The Legacy of Rick Paloma…or Tatang for the PAL Family

The Legacy of Rick Paloma

…or Tatang for the PAL Family

By Apolinario Villalobos

To say goodbye to a beloved

Is hard enough, how much more

If that beloved has impressed

In our heart everything

That he can impart

Just so, in this world, we can later

Be at our best

As we do our part.

He tried his best right from the start

Earning his keeps by honest toil

Firm determination and bold foresight

To be where he would be someday

And he did not fail

As all of us can now say.

He will always be a part of our memory –

An inspiration that shall guide us

For what he has left for us to keep

Is a legacy that shall guide us along

While we tread the road towards our destiny.

Let us thank him, this man Ric or Ricky to some

But Tatang to most of us who have known him

As a big brother and a doting father;

He whom we see as the perfectionist

He who wants nothing but the best

Making us realize later

That what he really wanted was for us to learn

Though the hard way,

… and that, friends, is his legacy.

I Can’t Change Everything…

I Can’t Change Everything…

By Sheche D. Bernardo

(the poetess is from Polomolok, South Cotabato, Mindanao (Philippines)

I cannot change everything

Persons, animals and things are having their own changes in life.
If a man is sad I cannot change him into happy person.
Even the chirp of the birds I cannot maximize their loud chirp everywhere,
The roar of lion and tiger I cannot change by its demand to minimize their sound.

I cannot change the life of a beggar to renew his or her life to normal,
And also the sky up there, I cannot change its floating moves above.
I cannot change the weather if it is rainy day into sunny day.
I cannot change the persons who have a blue eyes,
because he made us with unique in the eyes of God.

God can only change us, not me.
All I can change is my future not my good conduct at you.
And there is no reason to change myself on you.
It’s because you have been part of my life since then.

Filipinos Should Stand United Whatever the Result of 2016 Election May Be

Filipinos Should Stand United

Whatever the Result of 2016 Election May Be

By Apolinario Villalobos

Voting puts to test how Filipinos can make a sound decision. The “sacred right” of each voter should be tied to their mental attribute, instead of their quickly fluctuating emotion. Their decisions as regards their choice are harbored in their mind and nobody knows about them unless they blurt it out due to their uncontrolled emotion when they join discussions personally or in the cyberspace. Most importantly, political differences are best forgotten when the decision of the majority has been made – during the election, and which must be accepted.

Fanaticism, in the first place, should not be harbored by the Filipinos because it is a fact they are just “used” by politicians who do not even know them personally. It is for this reason, that while candidates are safely doing their rounds of campaigning, their supporters and campaign leaders are getting the ire of their opponents. And, if they die, the candidates may not even be able to attend the wake because they are busy giving out cash or leaflets. The fallen supporters and campaign leaders are eventually relegated along the forgotten sidelines of the chaotic campaign trails.

Political fanaticism must not polarize the Filipinos. The various sufferings that are causing so much despair among the long-exploited populace should not be underscored by their loyalty to chosen leaders who may win or lose. What they shared as their views in support of their candidates through the social media or personal discussions have already shown the extent of their courageous support. On the other hand, this should not cause the severance of ties with friends and relatives. Bashing each other in the social media based on shared posts from other sites which may not have been verified is not also prudent.

If what may come out after the election is far from what is being expected, this should not incite political die-hards into doing brash acts. Unexpected results should not also be used in inciting others to commit unbecoming moves that spell violence. Fire cannot be doused by fire. We had our lesson in the People Power which showed that something can be done by the number. After the election, those who will assume that they lost despite their number, should further unite, albeit, peacefully and show the nation such glaring proof.

The history of Philippine election is pockmarked with fraud, and if all parties concerned shall assume that it will happen again during the forthcoming 2016 election, they should be extra wary by closing their ranks and open their eyes wider….at least.

Duterte for president: change is coming

AnneGandaMo
